Please forgive me as i told you I would have this up and running by the Oct. 25th. But I could have never predicted a computer failure and having to learn Mac all on my own. I hope now I will be back in action! Love, Leigh

Hey sweet girl...

loved it! Still reading/ listening in Abilene, Texas!
So you mentioned the verse in James, I've always sort of disected that verse because I think the wording that is used is so interesting. We, before coming to appreciate and understand God, were orphans. We were without our Father. Also, before knowing Christ and becoming part of His church (the BRIDE of Christ), we were without a husband. Now, its a stretch to parallel that to a widow, but you see what I'm saying. To look after widows and orphans, is to look after those without the Father, and the Bride Groom. Essentially, keeping watch for those who do not know Him, so that through His Spirit's nudge, they might become adopted into the family of God, and be married in part with the church who is to be Christ's bride!

Good morning, friend! You did great and I love seeing your face and hearing your voice.
And now for the "ah ha" moment I got...
Yesterday morning our church did a special offering for World Hunger. Any good Southern Baptist knows that this is an emphasis for the convention right now. The statistics are staggering. But during the video they showed and during his message, God kept telling me to look up that verse about the widows and orphans, but I had left my Bible in the Sunday School room. So I tabled it for when I got home. Then, of course, I forgot about that moment.
Then your video blog...reminded me of it again. Love how God wouldn't let me forget about it and he used you to remind me.
With that said, I loved Alyssa's analogy of taking Christ to the "orphans and widows" of the world -- those without the Heavenly Father and those who are not right now part of the Bride -- but I also have to take that message in James very literally. I even think that sometimes it may be easier for us to go to those who don't know Christ and introduce Him to them than it is to go and meet the physical needs of these that the Bible refers to as widows and orphans.
I love this scripture in the Amplified:
"External religious worship [ religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world." (James 1:27)
Thanks for the reminder that our message and our ministry is two-fold: not only are we to just take the gospel to the World, but we are also to go out and help and care for their physical needs as well. Love God, love people...that's our goal!
Love you, friend!

Hey girl! I love it! It's so good to "see" you again!! =)
Greetings Leigh! And welcome back!
I admire and appreciate your testimony of fasting from blogging to seek the Lord.
God has been working in similar ways in my life - first it was fun, fit and flexible Friday's, then it was a Weekly Word for Wednesday. And Monday, He and I are still ironing out that day - Monday musings?
So good to *see* you!
Hey Leigh, I really enjoyed hearing that country "twang!" Oh how I miss you and remember so fondly sitting in your basement in such a memorable time of my life! I look forward to hearing what all He has to teach me through your posts...lifting you and the Gray family up often...all the way from the Middle East:-)
