795 - Independence Can Lead To Destruction

Good Morning Father - I am slowly finding my way back into the swing of things after having quite a whirlwind of a Christmas break. Much time was spent traveling to and fro. It was a beautiful Christmas, but also a New Year that I am anxiously waiting to see the different blessings He provides.
I have found a wonderful new devotional book called Jesus Calling! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! It is a must have! It is written in such a way that God is speaking right to you! I read it each morning and it as if He was whispering to me right from the fireplace! So warm, cozy, and inviting! The way it should be.......for now!

I know we and I want all my kids to be independent, think on their own, stand on their own 2 feet, and be strong - but not of themsleves. There is a place where that self-reliance begin to hamper their walk, their success, their happiness, their JOY! We find that independence can cause us to not relie on Him. It can cause us to become enormously prideful and eventually develop a huge lack of trust in the Lord.

"True dependence is not simply asking Me to bless what you have to decided to do. It [true dependence] is coming to Me with an open mind and heart, inviting Me to plant My desires within you!" Wow - you might want to read that again! Once again it is the law of oposites that God is calling us to. We are told to do things that our heart desires, to follow your heart, to go with what feels right, but Lord Jesus is calling us to pray for His desires to be implanted in our hearts. He is calling us to let go and allow Him to do His thing - but with an invitation! He is such a gentlemen!

I guess what I am hearing today is that I need to become independently dependent on Him! When I put all my hopes, dreams, expectations, etc. at His feet and depend totally on His ways, it is then and only then that I expereince the Joy of my salvation! It is then that I can sit in PEACE and know Him, the Peace!

Oh God, you have made in such a way that I am indepedent! I am a strong woman, one that does not like to ask for many things from people. Having 4 kids you certainly have helped me in the area of having to ask for help. But i want to wildly depend on You! God draw me in and hold me close! I love you!
